These things are dangerous. In case you were wondering.
Believe it or not, this afterschool snack fell into the “In a Pinch” category that I mentioned yesterday. Am I the only mama with half a bag of mini marshmallows, 7 or 8 giant jumbo marshmallows, and handful of chocolate chips, and an infinite supply of popcorn and sprinkles laying around?
Surely not.
I like to have snacks for my not-so-little guys when they get home from school because if I don’t then Evan will do something really crazy like eat all the plain tortilla shells he can find in the refrigerator.
Sometimes snacks are sliced carrots and apples. Sometimes snacks are muffins. Sometimes snacks are peanut butter toast (OhhhhEmGee peanut butter toast!!). Sometimes snacks are really random concoctions of all the scraps in the pantry. Like these things.
These things are basically just Rice Krispies treats made with popcorn instead of Krispies. With some chocolate chips stirred in while the mix was still warm, just before it got pressed into the pan. Then I covered them with sprinkles.
LOTS.OF. SPRINKLES.
I wrapped them individually in plastic wrap and my guys had snacks for a couple of days.
Speaking of plastic wrap… Lucy decided to eat my plastic wrap while I was at Target this evening. Apparently the plastic wrap was really offensive just sitting there on the table. It was definitely begging to be destroyed.
Anyway.
If you aren’t a total kitchen weirdo like me and don’t have the measurements for Rice Krispies treats committed to memory, you can refer to Crazy for Crust’s super simple instructions for her Popcorn Chocolate Chip Marshmallow Treats and then add sprinkles. Sprinkles are crucial.
Don’t say I didn’t warn you about these.
Have a great weekend!!

Salty, sweet, chocolate, sprinkles – I feel overwhelmed with delicious
Cheers

So. You have graduated from childproofing your home to pet proofing like me. At least my dog can’t get on the counter, that’s the safe zone. Unless you leave a chair nearby. I don’t have sprinkles and marshmallows, but I bet my daughter does. I will pass this along!

These look absolutely delicious. I need to get some marshmallows. I think I will put my St. Patricks Day sprinkles on these.—
These would be AMAZING to come home to after school – your boys are so lucky! (But yeah, also – peanut butter on toast -mmmmm! Our lunch in school was so bad the other day that my lovely friend went out to the supermarket to get something to eat and returned bearing two pieces of bread and peanutbutter for me too – true friendship right there! The proof is in the peanut butter as they…well as I say!)

I think this is every one of Maya’s’ favorite foods combined in one! No seriously. The popcorn, the sprinkles, the marshmallows…I’m definitely NOT going to mention this recipe to her.
Hope you are having a great weekend so far Heather!

They will love you even more!!
Kinda sorta totally outrageously amazingly PERFECT. And so gooey, I die. I would hope you’d nevah leave me alone in the house with these because I’d pull a gluttonous Tasmanian devil on your booty and devour them all in one sitting.

That’s pretty much how it went down.
Yup.
Um dangerous is an understatement!!! I would make these for myself and then watch a movie while eating them like a big fat fatty on my couch until they were gone hahaha You had me at marshmallow and sprinkles!!! YUM!
I seriously loved these things. So easy! So great! I would have eaten the whole pan if I didn’t have kids that make me share.
These are yummy! I made them in anticipation of my kids being home for spring break. I knew I made them too early! Four more days before they get here, and the hubs and I have nibbled through half of the batch!

Oh I’m so glad you tried them! They didn’t last long here at all. Easy and cheap.
I don’t actually trust myself with these. I’d have to plan ahead, like make them when there’s a group of neighborhood kids over.

I could never be trusted alone with these treats.
