Peach Berry Crumble

This Peach Berry Crumble is full of summer’s best fruit! A simple, buttery oat and brown sugar topping is the perfect way to celebrate the fruits of the season.

UPDATE 7/12/2017: This post was initially written in 2013. It was all about learning how to use a camera and how food photography can bring you readers. And that’s true.

But I’ll let you in on a little secret.

It’s kind of amazing that I add photos to my site at all. The original Peach Berry Crumble photos? Hilariously dark and terrible.

This recipe is super simple and quick though, so it was pretty easy to make and take a few non-terrible photos, though I will be the very first person to tell you that I am FOR SURE no photography expert.

I AM an expert in fruit cobblers and crumbles though. The Easiest Blackberry Cobbler? I have that covered. Peach Crumble Pie Bars? I have those, too! Mixed Berry Cobbler has an earthy, nutty crust, and Oatmeal Berry Crumb Bars are one of my fave recipes EVER. #crumbleexpert

Back when I started Sugar Dish Me I had exactly none in the way of knowledge about food blogs or social media or photos of anything besides my kids and dogs. My experience with internet recipes were sites like  Allrecipes, but really mostly I just cooked from a stack of magazines, books, and scrappy clippings hanging around, and more often than that off the top of my head.

I started sharing here because people were always asking me how to make this or that, and because I wanted people to love being in the kitchen as much as I do. The writing part comes naturally to me. If you know me in real life, you know I talk a lot. So words on the page are just an extension of that for me.

Writing a food blog though? Getting people to really WANT to make the recipes you are so excited to share? Your food has to look pretty.

I can very vividly remember in the beginning being thrilled to death- like to the point that I called Chad at work all excited- about having 30 views a day on my site. Granted, 5 of them were probably me and the other 25 were probably my mom and sisters but whatever. I was super pumped that anyone at all cared what I had to say. Or make.

But it wasn’t until I started paying more attention to the IMAGES that I really saw an increase in interest. The food you share has to LOOK like your reader wants to eat it!! And my oldest posts are a hot freaking mess. Don’t look. Promise you won’t.

Let me offer a disclaimer and be real here for a minute: I still pretty much have no idea what I’m doing when it comes to food photography. I do have a DSLR, and have some basic knowledge, but really I just always shoot in the same place in my house (when I originally wrote this post we were just dreaming of actually buying a house! You can read more about my original tiny ass food blog kitchen here) and know what settings work for me. In the beginning I would look at other food blogs and say, “Well they must have a gourmet kitchen,” or, “I can’t shop for fancy dishes at Anthropologie!,” or, “My camera isn’t good enough for this.”

But here I am, still doing this sharing recipes on the internet thing in 2017.

And don’t worry: I didn’t forget about the Peach Berry Crumble. It is easy and amazing and you are gonna love it.

I love the 3-fruit crumble! The last one I made, the dog got to it....ate the whole 12x9 pan. I'd like to think it was the best crumble he ever had, hopefully the only one.
