Serves: 24 scones

Ingredients
  • 3 cups all purpose flour
  • 1 cup chopped pecans
  • 1¼ tablespoons baking powder
  • ¾ cup canola based margarine
  • ½ cup maple syrup
  • ⅓ cup fat free milk
Instructions
  1. Preheat the oven to 375°F.
  2. Combine flour, nuts, baking powder, and margarine in a large bowl and mix by hand until coarse crumbles about the size of peas form. Then gently mix in the maple syrup and milk using a rubber spatula.
  3. Turn the dough out onto a lightly floured surface. Knead 1-3 times, just to bring the dough together. Pat the dough out into a 1" thick rectangle and then cut into 24 squares.
  4. Place the scones 1" apart on an ungreased baking sheet.
  5. Bake until they are firm in the center and golden on the edges and at the bottom, about 20 minutes.
  6. Cool slightly and serve warm.
