Reese's Pieces Peanut Butter Cookies
Yesterday I finally got all my outside Halloween decorations up.
I was trying to be way early with it because I was ready for Halloween and fall like a whole entire month ago while the rest of the world was still at the beach. It is, without a doubt, my favorite!
But a month ago everyone told me it was too early and I would be just as annoying as the retailers that have Christmas trees displayed in stores right now (FYI: Christmas trees and skeletons and jack-o-lanterns look weird side by side and I'm gonna need that to stop. It's kind of like the time my neighbors left their pumpkin to rot on top of a bail of hay in the yard while simultaneously hanging Christmas lights on the porch. Ew.). So anyway-- yesterday I sent Chad out into the yard with a spool of fishing line and made him hang a dozen little fabric ghosties from the trees plus some rubber bats I found at the dollar store a few years ago.
He really loves it when I greet him with a project after a ten hour day. I'm pretty sure it's his favorite thing in the world.

So I thought it was about time for some recipes here to look like Halloween too, and this month's Leftover's Club post seemed like the perfect opportunity to do it! Once a month I swap treats with another blogger because supposedly food bloggers have lots of leftovers. I actually never have leftovers because I live with a pack of hungry wolves but I make extras to participate because it really is fun. This month I got to send cookies to Ruthy at Omeletta whose food I love and you will too!
This is my favorite super-easy-like-you-won't-believe-it peanut butter cookie recipe that I stuffed full of Reese's Mini Pieces that I bought because they were so so cute. You could use regular sized Reese's Pieces or the coveted Fall M & M's (I can only find them in August and then they disappear!!). I always thought the colors of Reese's Pieces were very Halloween-ey.
Make these cookies.
- ½ cup unsalted butter, softened
- ½ cup creamy peanut butter
- ½ cup packed light brown sugar
- ½ cup granulated sugar
- 1 egg
- 1¼ cups all purpose flour
- ½ teaspoon baking powder
- ½ teaspoon baking soda
- ½ cup Reese's Mini Baking Pieces
- Preheat the oven to 375.
- In a large bowl blend the butter and peanut butter. Add the sugars and beat until smooth. Add the egg and beat until just combined.
- Toss the flour, baking powder, and baking soda in the bowl. Blend until the dough comes together.
- You'll use about one heaping tablespoon for each cookie. Roll each cookie into a ball and press your thumb into the center to make a well. Place each formed cookie about 2 inches apart on an ungreased cookie sheet.
- Sprinkle enough Reese's Mini Pieces into the little well of each cookie to completely fill it.
- Bake for 9-11 minutes (I err on the side of 9 for slightly softer cookies). Let them cool for about 5 minutes on the cookie sheet before removing to a rack to cool completely.

I wish you'd send your wolves over here. I have so much food, Heather! omg. insane amounts. I give it away to literally anyone I can. We cannot eat it all! But I would defi eat these cookies! PB cookies with Reese's are always a win!

My decorations are still in the basement. My apartment is kinda of a mess right now, so I can't even imagine decorating at the moment haha love peanut butter cookies and how festive these look for fall!

I used to put my decorations out at the beginning of September until one of my friends laughed at me till she cried when she saw them. That cured me -- I wait till September 28th at least now! I love these cookies, and I'm pinning them for the near future!

And gahhh I guess that would cure me too! I'm probably not proficient enough at planning to get 'em up that far in advance anyway. I just wanna enjoy the Halloween decorations for as long as possible!
I do wish the holidays would wait their turns! Seeing Halloween, Thanksgiving, and Christmas in the seasonal aisle at Walgreens is a bit perturbing.
But I am ALWAYS up for Reese's pieces and peanut butter in cookies. Always.
The Christmas trees next to the Halloween candy display is the most confusing thing ever. I found red and green mint M & M's instead of the Fall M & M's. Wrong-O.
When it comes to dinner....we have too many leftovers! Meals just are received with as much zeal as I imagine! Desserts however are a different story! We'd eat these up in a few hours! I'm pinning these babies for sure!
Thanks Tanya!! We only have meal leftovers when I add mushrooms because my kids won't touch them. So when I want to make sure to have lunch the next day I just add mushrooms. These cookies are like the easiest things ever. I had to make 2 batches to have enough to ship to Ruthy but it was well worth it!

No lol you are ABSOLUTELY right. I fixed that this morning and it went back to the original version! It should be 1/2 cup peanut butter and 1/2 cup butter. Good catch Linda!!!
I put my decorations out for fall the first week of Sept. Then my neighbor said it really isn't fall yet, so I responded by telling her I really don't care. LOL. So anyway, I now have had my Halloween stuff up about a week now & I love it. And, I also love these cookies. They are on my list to make.---Rachel

Oh man. I'm super jealous of Ruthie that she gets these cookies! I love Reese's anything and as much as I love peanut butter cookies, I never *actually* bake them because I usually end up eating all the dough before they get in the oven. Whoopsie...

Well... I wanted to decorate in September. But my worries about being annoying with my Hallo-joy won out. I am also extra guilty of eating the PB cookie dough. Why is it so good?!
Erm, did I mention that I'm addicted to peanut butter at the moment? I mean, seriously, addicted! I read the words 'peanut butter cookies' and my eyes lit up - and I have an oven! Some baking equipment and I am THERE! I love Halloween too, it's not really halloween-y over here decoration wise though 🙁
You need to have enough decorations for everyone!! 🙂 And for these cookies all you need is a baking sheet and a bowl!
